How glitch text works
Glitch text looks broken because it is built from combining marks — accents meant to sit on one letter — stacked many times onto every character. Mix in a few swapped letter styles and you get that corrupted-file look.
Use the intensity slider below. Light glitch stays readable and survives most apps; heavy glitch climbs over the lines above and below and is trimmed by Discord, Instagram and many games.
Styles on this page
- Glitch — Mixed styles plus light zalgo. Hit-and-miss
- Zalgo — Stacked combining marks; apps may clip them. Hit-and-miss
- Slashed — Combining long solidus U+0338. Works on most devices
- Strikethrough — Combining long stroke U+0336 after each letter. Works on most devices

Questions
Why does my glitch text look different in the app?
Apps limit how many combining marks can stack on one letter or clip text that overflows its line. Lower the intensity if marks disappear.
Does glitch text use up my character limit?
Yes, fast. Every mark is a separate code point, so one heavy glitched letter can count as 6–10 characters. The compatibility checker shows the real count.
Is it safe to use?
It is just text, but screen readers may read it as noise, and some communities ban it in names because it overlaps other messages. Keep it for jokes and art.
